Our Campsite

Acorn Wood is adult only, a small, quiet & well sheltered camping & caravan & motorhome park with its very own Fishing lake. We also have dog friendly self catering holiday accommodation in Darby Lodge and a Glamping Pod.

• Set in the heart of the country-side, close to the pretty village of Burton Upon Stather, we are surrounded by stunning walks and nature reserves.
• Our site has a lovely toilet and shower block, finished to a very high standard, it also contains pot washing facilities.
• We also have a chemical toilet disposal point. WE REQUEST TO PLEASE USE ONLY A GREEN, OR SEPTIC TANK FRIENDLY FLUID.
• We have spacious hard-standing & grass pitches. All with Electric 10amp hook up.
• Arrivals on the caravan park are from 12 noon & departures by 11am unless otherwise advised.
• The self-Catering Accommodation Holiday lodge which is fully equipped, central heating and everything you need for a comfortable, homely & relaxing break is available for hire thought the year. Sleeps 4 or 5 people in Two double bedded rooms & a Z-bed. Making the perfect fishing holiday, or base for you to sight see, visit family or friends or just relax.
• Glamping Pod sleeps 2 & is dog friendly.

The Nuthatch Glamping Pod

The Nuthatch sleeps up to 2 people, The Pull out beds can be either singles or made into a double. Please advise on booking your preference. Bring your own bedding/sleeping bags & pillows. It Comes equipped with all crockery & cutlery, Fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster & electric frying pan. Storage for a few clothes, hangers & coat hooks. Table & chairs. There is heating in the pod so you are cosy and warm all year.

Outdoor seating & sunshade. plus BBq (bring your own fuel etc)

PET FRIENDLY Max of 2 well behaved dogs (please bear in mind these pods are not huge and may not be suitable for larger dogs.

Dogs will be required to be on lead at all times.

There are hot showers, toilets & pot wash area are close to hand.

Come relax knowing you have all you need for a quiet & relaxing break. with on site fishing set in the Heart of Rural North Lincolnshire. Please remember your quilt or sleeping bag and pillow.

The well-equipped units are ideally situated for all North Lincolnshire’s top tourist attractions including the stunning walks, cycling, nature reserves and Lincolnshire's Normanby Hall Country Park Our local pubs serve hot food and are just a short distance from the site in the village of Burton Upon Stather. A Chinese take away is located in the pretty village and it offers delivery too. Plus there is a village store for any essentials and newspapers etc.

Set in the grounds of a small, friendly camping and caravan site, all visitors staying have full use of the parks amenities.

Once you have unpacked your car you can park your car in the carpark, there is a storage box behind the pod for your items such as fishing tackle to be stored

Darby Lodge is now dog friendly, our self catering holiday accommodation with on site fishing lake is set in the Heart of Rural North Lincolnshire

The well equipped holiday lodge is ideally situated for all North Lincolnshire's top tourist attractions including the stunning walks.

The lodge is available ALL YEAR.

Our Holiday Home is set in the grounds of our small, friendly adult only camping and caravan site, all visitors to the holiday let have full use of the parks amenities which include

• A beautiful, well sheltered, fully stocked fishing lake Free of charge for people booked into and staying in Darby lodge but you must be experienced or with someone experienced and have a current rod license.
• A wooden lodge which overlooks the fishing pond with tea and coffee making facilities, books and magazines, with a decked area just to sit and relax, dogs welcome inside.
• If you prefer, the self catering holiday let has its own private garden with table and chairs.
• Holiday Lodge can sleep up to 4 - 5 people and consists of two double bedrooms & can arrange a Z-Bed in the lounge.
• Holiday Lodge is fully central heated and also has a gas fire in the lounge.
• Weekends 2 night minimum, arriving Fridays.

What you need to know before you book your stay with us here at Darby Lodge with your dog.

Please specify at the time of booking if you intend to bring your dog(s). Dog(s) ar FREE of charge with up to a maximum of two small dogs or one larger breed allowed in the lodge.

Please Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping / key bond of £50 cash on arrival to be returned on check out day.

Please follow a few simple rules:

• As the owner you are responsible for your dog’s behaviour at all times.
• Dogs must be well-behaved, non-aggressive, and under control.
• All dogs are to toilet trained to stay in Darby Lodge.
• Dogs must not be left unattended at any time.
• All dogs must be on a lead around the park all times.
• We know dogs are likely to jump on beds and the furniture and we have throws available but we do advise owners to bring a dog basket, dog crate and any throws, blankets, and toys to keep your dog comfortable and help us protect our bedding and soft furnishings.
• Please clean your dog’s paws on entry to the lodge, we ask you to please respect our carpets, rugs and furniture etc. There are some dog towels by the door to dry your dog which you are welcome to use.
• Guests are asked to clean up after dogs, both inside and outside of the property. We have dog bins available around for the disposal of dog your dog(s) waste.
• Do not let your dog chase wildlife or jump into the lake.
• All dog breeds and sizes are welcome, but we will refuse aggressive dogs on arrival or during your stay we will ask you to leave the lodge for the safety of all our guests if your dog becomes aggressive - NO refund will be given.
• Please make sure your dog is free from parasites and fleas before arrival.
• Please Do Not wash dog beds or blankets in the washing machine.

Fishing

Here at Acorn Wood caravan, park we have our own fishing lake. Or beautiful and well stocked fishing lake is for the exclusive use of our visitors.

Bag a mix of Carp, Mirror, Common & Crucian, Bream, Rudd, Roach, Tench, Chub & Perch ranging in sizes up to about 14lb

Fishing is available for £5.00 a day for resident campers only. Dawn till dusk.

Mention on booking if you intend to fish as pegs may be limited.

Experienced anglers are preferred & you’ll need the appropriate licences.

We have caravan & trailer storage available here at Acorn Wood in Lincolnshire

With many people not towing their caravans themselves we offer a town on and off service when you stay with us. We will bring out your caravan onto pitch ready for you to arrive and then when you leave we will put your caravan back into its space in our storage unit.

Storage is secure and surrounded by fencing, trees, hedging and has a ditch it also has CCTV. The gate is kept locked at all times and we open for you to collect and return your caravan or motorhome.

We do ask for 24 hours notice whever possible for coming to take or return if you contact us at short notice this isnt always possible but we always do our best to accommodate you.

Acorn Wood is situated in the perfect location, being on the edge of the village of Burton Upon Stather it takes just 8 mins to walk into he centre where you can find local shops, dog friendly pubs that do great food as well as an array of dog walking oppertunities.

We have a Bus stop just a couple of minutes walk from.

Out & About

We are in the perfect location to explore North Lincolnshireand beyond. With easy access roads you can travel to lots of places very easily. Heres a few ideas and how long it takes to drive:

Bus Stop

If you go out of the gate, turn left and walk down the road a couple of hundrred yards you will find the bus shelter. The No.60

From the Bus stop opposite Tee Lane, you can get into Scunthorpe and jump off and many stops along the way or go all the way to the bus staion in the centre of Scunthorpe.

Coming back you can pick up the bus at the bus station at Stand H and get off at Tee Lane

Whether its just a stoll around the village you are wanting to do, or take your dog for some exercise there is something interesting to see everywhay you turn. Local Pubs

The Sheffield Arms is the closest of the pubs, just wak out the gate turn left and follow the road its just a few minutes walk (approx 8 mins walk). Its open 7 days a week ( but this can change in the winter please ask to double check times) and betweem 8am and 11am you can get an all you can eat full english breakfast. They have a full food menu as well as carvery with lots of meat choices. Booking in advance is recommended especially for Sunday lunch carvery.

The Ferry House Pub aka he bottom pub is located at the bottom of darby Road near the Wharf. If you go past The Sheffield Arms nd carry on down the hill yu will arrive at the Ferry House Pub and the Riverside Restaurant. The restaurant is open Friday - Sunday and you are recommended to book in advance to avoid being disappointed.

Both pubs have lots going on all through the year with events and live music and are both dog friendly.

We have hard standing and grass pitches all with electric hook up. There is one serviced pitch with electric and water and we have our nuthatch glamping pod and our self catering holiday lodge Darby Lodge.

General Information Check in & Out times:Pitches: check-in 12noon - check-out 11am Pod: Check-in 12noon - check-out 11am Darby Lodge: Check-in 3pm check-out 10am (unless early arrival or late check has been pre-arranged)

• WI-FI Access: We have free Wi-Fi here at Acorn Wood, please ask for details
• Smoking: No smoking inside the pod, Darby Lodge or any of our indoor areas
• Group Bookings: We do not except large groups, please repect we are a quiet park
• On-site Shop: We have a small honesty shop with a tin for your payment , please note the CCTV is running inside and around the shop and park grounds
• Parking: Of vehicles must be in the designated pod driveway and not on the grassed area. Your vehicles, their accessories and contents are left entirely at your risk. Each pod car park can accommodate 1 car, if further spaces are required please inform us on arrival.
• No bikes, ball games, Frisbees, kites or loud music - please respect Quiet time from 11.00pm
• No camp fires – BBQ’s must be raised off the ground, sorry no fire pits
• Communal area & log cabin around the pond please take care when using, please vacate before dark. Use after dark is ONLY at arranged social events, there is no lighting and torches will be needed. Please wash and return any cups used & leave area as you would wish to find it.
• Facilities: Showers, toilets & pot wash area, Please leave these areas as you would wish to find them. Use Mop & bucket provided. Please keep the door closed, especially in the evening OR when its raining.
• CHEMICAL TOILETS - Please use a GREEN or septic tank friendly fluid only. FORMALDEHYDE FREE ONLY Check the labelling on your fluids before arrival, we do have some available in our shop

Pitch Terms

• A non refundable £25.00 DEPOSIT is required on booking, balance due at least 4 weeks prior to arrival - bookings made less than 4 weeks prior to arrival will require full payment on booking.
• Minimum 2 nights stay unless booked last minute and 1 night fits in the diary
• Minimum 3 nights stay on a bank holiday unless less days fit in the diary aroound other booking
• We ONLY hold provisional bookings for 48 hours, long enough for you to make your payment. Once payment has been made, please notify me so I can confirm receipt and your booking is then secure.
• ELECTRIC – Please note that the EHU is 10amp on the pitches except for the serviced pitch which is 16amp
• CHEMICAL TOILETS – PLEASE USE A GREEN OR SEPTIC TANKS FRIENDLY FLUID ONLY. We do keep some available to purchase in the office if you require some please just ask (cash only please )
• DOGS ARE WELCOME-We are an extremely dog friendly park, we do ask that dogs to be on leads, dogs on leads are allowed around the lake, please be aware we have free roaming birds on site also that not all our visitors are dog confident, so please keep them on leads. There are lots of public walks which we can give you maps of, if you are wanting to excersise your dog offlead we can advise the best places for this. We ask that you clean up immediately after your dog so we can maintain the high standard of cleanliness of our site grounds, failing to do so will result in you being asked to leave the park with no refund. As we are a quiet and peaceful park, if you are unable to control your dog from continuously barking or keep your dog on a lead or tether we are probably not the park for you, CATS ARE WELCOME to stay however they must be on a thether and walked on lead, cats are not allowed to roam around the park offlead. We have lots of wildlife roaming please respect our rules as we reserve the right to ask you to vacate and leave your pitch if your pets are persistently off lead or causing problem without refund. Please do not leave your pets unattended in your unit while you are out.
• GROUND SHEETS – Any ground sheets used on grass must be of the breathable kind, barbecues to be raised of the ground, & hot pans must not be placed on the grass
• AWNINGS - Please do not use electric heaters in awning, be mindful of electic usage.
• DAY VISITORS – Adult visitors are welcome but strictly by prior arrangement and their vehicles must be parked on the car park at the main entrance. If your visitors behaviour is deemed unaccepable by us they will be asked to leave. No overnight stays by any visitors unless prior notice is given. There will be an extra charge for numbers over 2 adults a unit.
• PLEASE TAKE HOME ALL UNWANTED LARGE BOXES / BROKEN ITEMS - DO NOT LEAVE CARPETS, TV'S, BBQ'S, POTS & PANS, AWNING CARPETS AWNINGS ETC ETC - IF YOU ARE SEEN DOING THIS ITEMS WILL BE RETURNED TO YOU. REMEMBER WE HAVE CCTV! - WE HAVE TO PAY FOR RUBBISH REMOVAL BY WEIGHT.
• Pitch numbers: Please note that although we try to alocate and give you a pitch number we cant always keep to this and may need to change your pitch. We would only change like for like, e.g hard standing for hard standing or grass for grass and never hard standing to grass or grass to hard standing.
• CANCELLATIONS - Any payments made are non-refundable. Should a cancellation be necessary at last minute and the booking has been paid for in full, we will try to rebook the pitch in which case we would move your booking to a new date within the year, please give us as much notice as possible. If you arrive a day late or leave early please DO NOT ask for a credit or refund for the day. If its a short notice cancellation and we can refill your pitch as a last minute booking then we will move the booking for you to another date within the year. If we cant then unfortunately you will need to claim on your travel insurance.

Glamping Pod

• Minimum weekend 2 nights stay
• Minimum Bank holiday stay - 3 nights stay
• Deposit: To secure your stay, a deposit of £25 is required however If the booking is within 4 weeks of the arrival date, the full balance will be required. If you are booking a special offer then full payment is required on booking to recieve the special offer price.
• Payment: We ask wherever possible that payments are made by bank transfer, if you are unable to make payment this way please contact us to discuss other options of cash or card payment on arrival.
• The Nuthatch Glamping Pod is a short-term glamping pod holiday, Once you have booked and deposit is paid you you are agreeing to our terms and conditions. You agree to the following booking conditions and Acorn Wood reserve the right to change or amend these terms and conditions at any time. We also reserve the right to terminate the agreement/booking without refund of money if the behaviour of any guest is considered unacceptable, site rules are broken or if the number of occupants exceeds that stated at the time of booking.
• The person booking agrees to take full responsibility for the property and the payment of any payments due or damages. We are adult only and all other occupants and visitors will be above 18 years old, anyone under the age of 18 will not be permitted to stay and there will be no refund given.
• PET FRIENDLY – Dogs are welcome but please bare in mind the pod is not huge and may not be suitable for larger dogs. Please remember to bring Quilts, sleeping bag and pillows. A choice of bed layout these are; as day chairs which you pull out to form sigle beds OR a fixed double, you can request your prefernce on booking if you wish.For full list of whats included in the pod please see the website page for more details. We do not allow cats to stay in the glamping pod due to managers allergies.
• On departure day please leave pod clean & tidy, empty any rubbish at the main rubbish point, Wash & return any crockery etc used and
• Turn any heaters & appliances off before leaving
• CANCELLATIONS – If a cancellation is necessary we are happy to rearrange the dates for you to be taken during the same year but your payments are non refundable.
• ANY PAYMENTS MADE ARE YOUR AGREEMENT TO OUR TERMS.

FISHING

• Fishing is £5.00 a day per person, this is per day not hours added up over multiple days.
• Fishing to be paid for by cash if possible if not then please arrange by bank transfer or card payment with Mandy
• PLEASE USE OUR UNHOOKING MATS & LANDING NETS ONLY (Bring your own handle) -
• BARBLESS HOOKS ONLY maximum size 10 - NO KEEP NETS & NO BREAD OF ANY KIND OR FLOATING BAITS, No Braid is is to be used.
• No fishing gear to be left overnight on a peg.
• No fishing gear to be left on pegs overnight.
• No reserving pegs.
• No floating baits.
• No braid
• The use of bread is not acceptable in any form
• No keep nets
• No fishing between pegs
• One rod only at any one time
• Dawn till dusk (9.00pm) – No night fishing
• Appropriate licences will be required, this is your responsibility & not for us to check. BAILIFFS DO CALL IN UNANNOUNCED

HOLIDAY LODGE

• An £50 deposit is required is required on booking. The balance will be required 4 weeks prior to arrival day.
• Minimum 2 nights stay on a weekend Fri/Sat
• Minimum 3 nights stay on a bank holiday weekend
• On departure day please leave lodge clean & tidy. Empty any rubbish at the main rubbish point. Wash & return any crockery etc used.
• Turn any heating & appliances off before leaving.
• Any damages will be chargeable.
• A £50 cash damage/security bond may be required and this will be refunded on leaving once all checks have taken place.
• If you choose to arrive a day late or leave a day early please do not ask for a credit or refund as this is not possible, you will need to claim from your travel insurance.
• CANCELLATIONS – If a cancellation is necessary we are happy to rearrange the dates for you to be taken during the same year but your payments are non refundable.
• ANY PAYMENTS MADE ARE YOUR AGREEMENT TO OUR TERMS.
• We do not allow cats in darby Lodge due to managers allergies

You can book your stay with us by using the calendars below, once confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email along with our bank details for you to make your payment by bank transfer.

If you cannot do a bank transfer then please get in touch and we can arrange alternative method of payment.

Once your payment is received your booking is secure,

We ask for payments to arrive within 24 hour but if for any reason you cannot make payment in this time then please contact us to discuss.

For one night bookings please contact us, we are happy to book one night if it fits in the diary, one night on a weekend can only be booked last minute.
